      <description>Alkoholizm i Narkomania has been published since 1988 by the Polish Psychiatric Association and the Institute of Psychiatry and Neurology.&#xD;
&#xD;
The aim of the journal is to strengthen and integrate the scientific community on the one hand, and to built bridges between science and practice, on the other. It acts as a forum for exchange of experiences between different professional worlds.&#xD;
&#xD;
The journal is addressed to the professionals doing research on psychoactive substances, to practitioners working in this field and to all interested in alcohol and drug problems. It has an interdisciplinary character and publishes articles on alcohol and other drug related problems, examined from the variety of perspectives, as basic research, clinical, epidemiological and social aspects.</description>

      <title>The State Agency for the Prevention of Alcohol-Related Problems (PARPA)</title>

      <description>The State Agency for the Prevention of Alcohol-Related Problems (PARPA) was established in 1993. &#xD;
It is a specialized government agency subordinated to the Polish Minister of Health. &#xD;
PARPA has been entrusted with the following tasks:&#xD;
&#xD;
* Preparation of a draft National Program for the Prevention and Solving of Alcohol-Related Problems;&#xD;
&#xD;
* giving expert opinions;&#xD;
&#xD;
* providing information and education, &#xD;
&#xD;
* preparing expert opinions,&#xD;
&#xD;
* developing and implementing new methods of prevention and solving alcohol-related problems,&#xD;
&#xD;
* providing advice to local authorities, institutions, associations and individuals who implement tasks related to the prevention and solving of alcohol-related  problems;&#xD;
&#xD;
* cooperating with municipal and provincial authorities in the area of prevention and solving of alcohol-related  problems;&#xD;
&#xD;
* coordinating and initiating actions that boost effectiveness and accessibility of detoxification treatment services to the addicts and their families;&#xD;
&#xD;
* commissioning and financing tasks regarding the solving of alcohol-related  problems;&#xD;
&#xD;
* cooperating with international organizations that operate in the field of solving of alcohol-related problems;&#xD;
&#xD;
* intervening in the cases of infringing provisions stipulated.</description>
